I’m now a fan of Maricar Reyes

9 Dec

I don’t always watch Lovers in Paris since I’m not exactly a big fan of Kristina Cassandra’s acting.  But I like Zanjoe Marudo (kahit ano pang sabihin ninyo) and because I’m addicted to Dahil May Isang Ikaw, I watch LIP on a semi-regular basis while waiting for DMII.

Last December 7, I tuned in and caught the scene where Maricar Reyes (Karen) wakes up to find herself in a hospital and paralyzed from the waist down.   Oh my gad, she’s a very good actress ha, promise!  Watch this clip and see for yourself.

Oh, I’m sure naka-relate!

In other news, I think everyone saw Pinoy Big Brother’s Melason loveteam yesterday.  My teenage niece was jumping and screaming while watching.  I kept getting calls and text messages from friends who were so kilig/natatawa at the very cute love story of Melissa and Jason.

San bang galing probinsiya si Jason? Batangas ba? I think plus pogi points ‘yung malambing niyang punto.

I also admire Jason for his honesty, especially when he said that though he likes Melai/Isay/Melissa (ano ba talaga ang nickname niya?), he wants to make sure that he’d still feel the same way once they’re outside the PBB house.  I say that’s very wise and very honest, di ba?

Ang kaso lang, once they’re out of the house and he finds out that his feelings for Melissa aren’t very true, mukhang mawawalan ng career itong si Jason.

In other news ulit, MARTIAL LAW PA RIN NGA PALA SA MAGUINDANAO.  Ano’ng masasabi ninyo?

See you in Paris

Watch and compare with the orig version.

O sya.  À tout à l’heure…

Finally, JR and Audrey sleep together

Omigod, omigod, omigod!!!  It finally happened!!!

JR and Audrey’s Tayong Dalawa honeymoon kept me at the edge of my seat.

Kinilig ka ba o kinabahan? Ako both!

At naisip kong puwede rin itong isang deo ad.

Darna says hello!

4 Aug

Attended the Darna presscon at GMA 7’s Studio 5 last night and became very sure that on August 10, all tricycle and jeepney drivers will be at your neighborhood carinderias with TV to watch its pilot episode.

darna front

Dingdong – not Ding – is one lucky guy.

As Darna, Marian sure moves well.

At sexy lumipad.

But of course, Darna wouldn’t be complete without Valentina (Iwa Moto)

and other monstrous creatures.

Ehra Madrigal as Babaeng Lawin

Maggie Wilson as Babaeng Linta

Nadine Samonte at Babaeng Impakta

Francine Prieto as Babaeng Tuod

But most of all, Darna will never be Darna without this woman.

No, that’s not Anna Wintour.  Not Jessica Alfaro, either.

Amazing din ang transformation ni Marian.  At the presscon, she first appeared onstage as the sweet and tame Narda.

Then a few minutes later…

Ferosh to the max!  And she’s ready to kick GMA’s (Arroyo, not her network) butt for not making her master Mars Ravelo a National Artist.

So, are you watching the nth remake of Darna on August 10?

In case you missed it

Bam Aquino is now an actor

25 Jul

There’s a new documentary film that chronicles the last few days of assassinated senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr.  Called The Last Journey of Ninoy, the film is produced by Unitel Productions with the Benigno S. Aquino Jr. Foundation and is directed by Jun Reyes, who came up with the idea upon stumbling on an old article, “Ninoy’s final journey,” written by Ninoy’s brother in law, Ken Kashiwahara.  The article became the basis for the documentary.

This new Ninoy docu features interviews, old clips, and reenactments with the senator’s nephew Bam Aquino playing the role of Ninoy.  It promises to reveal “grand conspiracies,” “clandestine meetings,” “secret conversations” and “dangerous deceptions,” phrases that make this documentary very interesting and intriguing.  I would certainly watch this.  I bet you would, too.

This docu is slated to be shown in theaters on August 21, the 26th death anniversary of Ninoy.  And on August 23, it will be shown simultaneously on ABS-CBN, TFC, ANC, and on live video streaming.

Check out the trailer below.

Jenny on the block

19 Jul

I came across Jennylyn Mercado’s Twitter account (if this is indeed her personal Twitter account) and finally saw a clearer pic of her baby via Twitpic. But I’m not posting Baby AJ’s pic here. Takot ko lang mademanda no.  Ito na lang at bahala na lang kayong mag-search and compare.

Anyway, dati mas gusto ko si Yasmien Kurdi to win over Jen in Starstruck pero later on, mas gusto ko na si Jen.  Between the two, I think that Jen’s a much better actress.  Kaso minsan nagmamala-Geneve Cruz siya at parang laging nakasimangot during interviews.  Then there were the reports na hindi sumisipot sa presscons, shootings/tapings, etc.  What is that? The effect of being a once battered child?

In fairness, though, I love it when Jen shows off her fun side, as against her brooding side. Like her guesting in Bubble Gang‘s Moymoy Palaboy video.

Next big star?

I’ve seen the first appearances of Carla Abellana as the Pinay Rosalinda. And I’m wondering, basing on this,

And the plot thickens…

Tayong Dalawa is my new Encantadia.  I swear, I’m so addicted to it.  The story is fast-paced and compelling, the characters beautifully developed.

As in napapaiyak ako ni Cherry Pie Picache at Gina Pareno.  In my opinion, they’re the best actresses on TV.  Agot Isidro is also a revelation.  Effective pala ang Ate na maging loka-loka.  At the same time, I think I have a renewed respect for Jake Cuenca as an actor. Nakikita kasi ang effort to improve.

As for Kimerald, wa ako ma-say except: acting workshop?

Meanwhile, I love Coco Martin’s character. May tanong lang ako: What’s with the hair?

Thanking the gods for YouTube, the site to visit everytime I miss an episode.

I know everyone my age’s been transported back to and got stuck in the 80’s with MJ’s passing, but this one takes the cake.

Menudo, the musical?

This is gonna be a Venezuelan production daw which will debut in November.

So who do you think among those kids are Ricky Martin, Charlie, and Robby Rosa?

Speaking of Menudo, do you still remember when they performed in GMA Supershow and Kuya Germs was pairing Ricky Martin with Sheryl Cruz?

On why Totoy Bato “sucked”

7 Jul

Finally, Totoy Bato headwriter Suzette Doctolero has spoken against Robin Padilla’s rumored pakikialam on said GMA 7 primetime soap which ended last Friday. reports about a thread in the forum site Pinoy Exchange where a forum participant nicknamed Lipstick City dared Ms. Suzi to spill the beans on Robin Padilla . Apparently, to many of the loyal Totoy Bato viewers, the show sucked big time.

Totoy Bato

Yellowsuzi, a.k.a. Suzette, replied:

“Lipstick City hehehe mukhang me alam ka?
You’re putting me on the spot.
But we, the creative team, need to air our side di ba?

Truth be told, TB is a a very frustrating show for me.  Sa scripts namin, only weeks 1, 2, 3, 4 and week 6 ang nagawa nang buong-buo na di pinakialaman.

The rest were all Robin’s. 90 percent were his.  So most of the time, pag nanonood ako, di ko alam ang nangyayari sa kwento, pati scenes, di ko kilala (maski production, walang magawa dahil alam nilang magwawala si RP pag di siya sinunod).  Kaya di ko alam ang ending tonight.   Hindi namin alam lahat!  Si RP lang ang nakaka-alam and his own crew (yes, may sarili siyang crew: may sarili siyang director na di ko alam kung saan niya napulot, cameraman etc. — no, hindi sila part o empleyado ng gma)  Kaya pag grainy ang napapanood nyo, at pabago-bago ang volume, at madilim: in short, parang high school production, sila gumawa nun.  Oo, TB ang first indie soap hahahaha.  (Indie ganda!)

Management cannot do anything also dahil palaging nagbabanta itong magwa-walk out sa show pag di siya sinunod.  I can understand them, nakontrol ni Robin ang kwento in such a way, na pag mawala siya, di na tatayo ang show.   In fairness, mautak siya.

This, i am promising to myself: I will not work with him anymore.  I hope my station will not get his services anymore.  Isa siyang megalomaniac actor.

I don’t care.  He already knows my discontentment (yun ay kung sinabi na sa kanya ng manager niya ang mga masasakit na sinabi ko).   He ruined a once promising good show.  Sayang.”

Hmm…Remember the editing bay incident during the finale of one of Robin’s previous shows with GMA?  I hope actors, no matter how big they are, would learn to respect the creative/production team, especially the writers since, as I’ve said before, story is king.

Ai amore!

6 Jul

The Pinoy version of Rosalinda starring newcomer Carla Abellana starts tonight over at GMA 7.  I’ll surely be watching.

I wanna know if Carla has the makings of the next big star.  I was a super fan of Marian Rivera’s Marimar and though it’s unfair to compare the two, I wanna see how Carla’s portraying another Thalia role.

Kaso, I don’t think she’d dare to go a bit sexy (a “must” when portraying Thalia roles, IMO) since Lola Delia Razon might not approve.  She might get trapped in the pa-wholesome image most starlets are in — parang hindi na tuloy sila real people.

Another reason I’m watching Rosalinda is Geoff Eigenmann.  He’s one of those artistas who can make your heart melt just by staring at you.
